    Hey Guys,

The new site is live for iam39. Exciting times. Been tinkering with this since the launch of Impeka, and I’m very happy with this.

As you can see the increase in performance when using google measure, is significant. Compared to the old MoveDo site its increased from less than 20 to more than 60!

    google measure

However just wondered if anyone had any suggestions for any ways to get that performance score even higher. Or is this the glass ceiling for a complex impeka site? I notice that rank math has taken around 10 points off of this score.

    Hey Dan.

First, if Rank Math took you 10 points of the performance score, you should investigate this further or get rid of that / substitute it.
It all depends on your hosting setup and the plugins you use.
Can you tell us some more details about your configuration? I remember you are on Gridpane.
Which plan do you have and which server do you use?
How to you optimize your site? Kind of caching? Plugins, etc.

I assume this is your mobile score, still it looks very odd to me, you have just a bit over 60.
Yeah, it can be very challenging to get good mobile scores but so many opportunities for improvements there!

agreed maybe I need to try a different plug-in for SEO, I like Rank Math, but maybe its to heavy. I hear good things about SEOPress, what do you use?

I’m using GridPane and I have this site on a Digital Ocean 3 GB Memory / 60 GB Disk / LON1 – Ubuntu 18.04.3 (LTS) x64 server all though its only 1 core, and has a handful of sites on it. I think I may try to migrate this site to its own at least dual core server and rerun the same tests.

    Plug-ins is pretty light. Heres a list….

    v2.16.58.25 – by UpdraftPlus.Com, DavidAnderson More

Most site optimisation is done by the theme, and server stack. Using ShortPixel to optimise images.

I’ve been investigating with Thanasis, and it seems that their is some issue with the feature image section at the head of the page. He is looking in to this. This warning is only present in Google Measure and is not present in GTMetrix. See 2 images, showing featured section off and featured section on, 2.5 seconds different.
    featured element on
    featured element off
    and the offending code
    featured element
I’ve also tested this on another site, using Crocal, and the same warning is present. But again only in Google Measure, not in GTMetrix. And this is only a single image featured element. Very odd.

Yeah, for me, SEOPress is the way to go. So feature-rich but light-weight at the same time. Super clean UI, not to mention the pricing. I just love it.

Any reason you use 2 different contact form plugins? CF7 might also not the right choice for a super optimized website.
You could also check out WSForm. It’s a pretty new plugin with newest coding standards. Might be worth it, not only performance-wise.

Since you are using Shortpixel, I haven’t seen any generated WebP versions of your images on your website. You should consider doing that.
At least, it didn’t show up inside the network log and it also passed the Google audit (somehow?). I might be wrong here.

Have you already tried WP Rocket in combination with Perfmatters? It simply works wonders.
Sure, there are many options you won’t need, since you are already on a high performance hosting.
If you target a solid 95+ desktop score and a 75+ mobile score, you should definitely give it a try.
Your pages are not that big and it would be definitively achievable, even with your dynamic portfolio and blog elements.

But you should always have in mind, that a good and smooth user experience weights higher than any numbers on various website scoring sites (basic optimizations provided).

Did you already check your DB-queries with Query Monitor (https://de.wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/)? It is really helpful and could point you in the right direction.
My guess is that Smash Balloon Instagram Feed is also responsible for this, but maybe I am wrong.

My go-to SEO-Plugin is The SEO Framework, which is the most lightweight tool, as far as my tests show.

I’m back!!! Been locked out of the Hub for a month. I think Greatives hate me (joke).

so the site is now super fast.

    iam 39 speed test

I upgraded to a new server. Vultr HF running litespeed. Tweaked a few plug-ins. Switched Rank Math for SEO-Press for example.

    @Marius1989

Yep running 2 form plug-ins. But I need to change that.

Contact form 7 for the beautiful styling options Impeka provides. For the contact form using the safe mode area item. Love it.

Gravity forms for the much more complicated client onboarding forms in the footer. Gravity makes is so quick and easy to add these, complete with complex conditional logic.
